Mac Deployment Overview
GreenLoop deploys and manages Mac workstations using Apple’s Mobile Device Management (MDM) framework through Addigy. This gives us a consistent, secure way to get new and refreshed Macs ready for your team without manual, one-off setup. Once complete, users sign in to their Macs with their 365 credentials just like the rest of your team. Their Mac devices have software updates automatically applied, and have your corporate security and compliance policies consistently enforced.
Here’s a quick look at what happens during a standard Mac deployment:
Enrollment in Management
Each Mac is enrolled into Addigy MDM, which lets GreenLoop apply configurations, push updates, and monitor device health remotely.
Device Naming and Labeling
Devices are named and labeled according to GreenLoop naming standards so they’re easy to identify and track in inventory.
FileVault Disk Encryption
FileVault is enabled to encrypt the disk, and the recovery key is captured and stored securely by GreenLoop — not left sitting on the device or with the end user.
macOS Updates
macOS is brought current as part of setup, and ongoing updates are managed through MDM going forward.
Microsoft 365 App Setup
Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive are installed and configured, including Known Folder Move for OneDrive so Desktop and Documents sync automatically to the cloud.
First Sign-In
Users receive a Temporary Access Pass to complete their first sign-in on the new device.
A Note on OneDrive
On some Macs, OneDrive requires the user to grant Full Disk Access during setup. If prompted, this is expected and needed for OneDrive to sync properly.
