View Org Chart in Microsoft Teams

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you needed to know the reporting structure of a specific person within your organization? Maybe you’re working on a project and need to know who their supervisor is, or perhaps you need to communicate with one of their direct reports. In situations like these, Microsoft Teams can be an invaluable tool for finding the org chart and organizational relationships for that person.

Here are two easy ways to access this information:

  1. Hover Over Their Card: The most common way way to access the org chart and relationships is to hover over the person’s card wherever you see it, in Chat or in a Teams thread. This will bring up a menu of options, including the org chart button. Clicking on the org chart button will take you to the org chart page for that person.
  2. Use the Search Bar: Another way to find the org chart and relationships is to use the search bar. Simply type “/org” in the search bar, followed by the name of the person you want to look up. This will take you directly to the org chart page for that person.

Remember that the org chart and relationships will only appear in Microsoft Teams if the per-user relationships have been provisioned in Microsoft 365 ahead of time. If the org chart is incorrect or misisng, it may be necessary to contact IT for assistance. Contact GreenLoop if you’re a current client and need assistance with getting this set up.
