LoopGuard | BrowserGuard: GreenLoop Adds Browser Phishing and Scareware Protection to Managed Services at No Additional Charge
PHOENIX, Ariz. — September 11, 2026 — GreenLoop IT Solutions today announced LoopGuard | BrowserGuard, a new browser protection service that blocks phishing pages, credential-harvesting sites, and scareware notification attacks before they reach the user. BrowserGuard is included at no additional charge for GreenLoop managed services clients.
BrowserGuard is the newest component of LoopGuard for Endpoint, GreenLoop’s proprietary suite of endpoint security and hardening tools, deployed and monitored by our own technicians. It formalizes and extends the browser protections already described in LoopGuard for Endpoint into a single, centrally managed, always-on service.
Why we built it
As we’ve hardened our client environments against email phishing attacks and equipped client end-users to spot and handle potentially malicious email links, attackers continue to adjust tactics, and our security platform continues to evolve in response. GreenLoop’s service desk has seen increasing volume of notification-based and browser scareware attacks in recent months. These fake “virus alert” pop-ups push users toward fraudulent support numbers and convincing Microsoft 365 login pages built to harvest credentials. Antivirus does not stop a user from typing a password into a page that looks exactly right. BrowserGuard does.
“Our clients’ users are trained, careful people, and they still get caught — because a fake Microsoft login page is indistinguishable from a real one at a glance,” said Stephen Moody, Chief Technology Officer at GreenLoop IT Solutions. “BrowserGuard moves the decision off the user and into policy. We block the page before anyone has to make a judgment call. And because we believe this is an essential, not optional protection against cyber risk across our client base, we are not charging for it as an add-on service, but instead including it in our service plans now and in the future.”
What BrowserGuard does
- Real-time phishing and malicious site blocking. Every site a user visits is checked in real time, and known phishing, credential-harvesting, and malware-delivery pages are blocked before they load — with particular focus on fake Microsoft 365 sign-in pages.
- Microsoft Defender browser protection across browsers. Defender’s protection is native to Microsoft Edge; BrowserGuard deploys and configures it for every Google Chrome profile on managed computers so coverage is consistent regardless of which browser a user prefers.
- Browser notification restrictions. Browser notifications are restricted by policy, shutting down the notification-stuffing and scareware pop-up campaigns that generate a steady stream of help desk calls and, occasionally, real compromises.
- Centrally enforced and tamper-resistant. Protections are applied by policy to managed workstations and laptops, so users cannot simply uninstall or disable them. GreenLoop maintains a central, CTO-approved allowlist, with per-client allowlist overlays for business applications that legitimately need notifications or unusual sites.
- Protection that travels with the device. BrowserGuard applies wherever a corporate-owned endpoint connects — the office, a client site, an airport, or a home network — not just behind the corporate firewall.
Availability and rollout
BrowserGuard is included with GreenLoop managed services at no additional charge. Rollout is phased:
- Managed Security Premium and Managed Security Enterprise clients will receive BrowserGuard first.
- Managed Security Plus and Managed Security Essentials clients follow in the months after, as the rollout expands.
Clients do not need to take any action. GreenLoop deploys, configures, and monitors BrowserGuard centrally, and will contact each client’s designated point of contact ahead of deployment. Where a specific machine or application requires an exception, GreenLoop can allowlist the site or exclude the individual device on request. Existing clients should stay tuned for GreenLoop to reach out ahead of implementation, or reach out to their GreenLoop Account Manager with any questions.
